Who’s Linda?

Hi there!

I am a Lead Product Designer with 10 years of experience in the UI/UX world. I enjoy solving problems that involve humans and machines.

Currently, at JLL, we are building tools for commercial real estate planning and transaction management.

Previously, I worked at Randstad where we helped those impacted by layoffs find the next opportunity by providing coaching, resume writing services, and job resources. I designed the web and mobile apps that deliver our services, tools, and resources to our participants.

During my time at Pearson, an education company, we built the next generation of our English learning application for over 180,000 active learners across 29 countries at Wall Street English. I designed a social platform for our global learning community.

As a member of Pearson's Design System team, I helped the company drive design consistency and efficiency by redesigning the design system website, building a UI sticker sheet, and establishing the delivery and governance process to foster the adoption and evolution of the design system.

On the side, I enjoy all kinds of design challenges from defining the brand identity for a coding academy, designing a race jersey and website for a dragon boat race, to redefining the online shopping experience for tailored menswear without the measuring tape.

When I’m not in front of my laptop, I love being in nature, watching PBS, drawing, dancing, and dragon boating!

From Concept to Pixels

My design process involves user research, conceptualization, wireframing, prototyping, mockups, UI design, and collaborating with front-end developers to bring the product to life. I particularly enjoy user research and the process of transforming user insights into tangible design solutions.

My Past Life

I was born and raised in Taiwan and moved to the US in 2007. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BFA in Design and a certificate in Computer Science. Prior to becoming a designer, I was a math and physics tutor at UT Austin during my college years.

My Imaginary Life

If I wasn’t a designer, I’d probably be teaching science or dance, organizing fun events, or running a startup.

The Way We Work

Over the years, I became more convinced that the quality of our work is almost entirely determined by the way we work - from how we collaborate to what tools we use. When we are able to collaborate effectively, we are greater than the sum of the parts. In the following article, I shared my thoughts about how product teams could better leverage the skill sets of product designers to build great products. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
